About Curious Play Labs

About Us

The aim of Curious Play Labs is to spark lifelong curiosity in children by making science, coding, and reading a joyful, hands-on, and deeply engaging experience.
More specifically, CPL aims to:

  • Nurture curiosity, creativity, and love for science in children.
  • Provide research-backed, high-quality programs where learning is playful yet deep.
  • Create a safe, inspiring space where children (5–15 years) can experiment, explore, and discover confidently.
  • Support parents who value meaningful, play-based, high-quality education.
  • Shape children into lifelong learners who see science and learning opportunities everywhere.

Curious Play Labs is not just a learning space- it is a philosophy of happy, meaningful education that we all wish for as children.

Our Story

Curious Play Labs was founded in Chandigarh, in May 2022, by Dr. Saryu Garg. After seeing the abysmal condition of science education in schools, and witnessing her cousins leaving science simply because of being disillusioned by it, Saryu brought together three of her passions- science, working with children, and the idea of learning/ education; with the hope of bringing about a larger change in the way science education is imparted. She always found science exciting in school, and still does. But in her own journey of education, she found herself being afraid of science. After much time spent on critical self- analysis of things, she realised that her problem was a result of the faulty, lop-sided way in which science was done in school. It was taking away the whole charm and wonder of learning and discovering new things. After finishing her PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, she spent time working with schools and school children from various parts of Punjab, and doing her own research on various forms of education. Experiences from her parenthood provided her more clarity on the way learning happens in children.

The idea of a playful learning space where children were free to explore, experiment, question freely, meet passionate and happy educators, experience learning in it's most beautiful form- seemed like a solution that could fix the problem being faced by young children and their parents. And thus, Curious Play Labs was established.

A consistent urge to perfect the 'CPL way of education' has brought about wonderful progress at CPL, in every way. Kids love to attend the workshops, the team at CPL has grown, there is diversification of programs, and all the facilitators derive utmost satisfaction from the quality of workshops that they are creating and conducting.

Most significant is the appreciation, support and encouragement that the parents have provided to Curious Play Labs- which speaks volumes about the quality of work that is done at C

I started this space with a simple wish — I wanted children to experience science in it's most wonderful form so that their love for science should remain intact even when they grow up! I started this space with a simple wish — I wanted children to experience science in it's most wonderful form so that their love for science should remain intact even when they grow up! It saddened me (still does) to see children losing their inherent love for science and learning as they grow up, and I saw the reasons- that the joy of doing science was being taken away by the bland teaching styles in schools; science would suddenly become very difficult because of lack of clarity of fundamentals at an early stage; there was lack of a holistic approach to topics; there was complete lack of hands- on learning; there was no connection between children's experiences and science concepts; and so on. I saw an urgency for a solid fix to the problem.
I had a belief that children learn best when their curiosity is alive and their hands are busy exploring- this guided me in my decision to create Curious Play Labs.
With a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, and a deep passion for Research, Science, Education and Metalearning, I’ve dedicated myself to designing experiential, play-based science workshops for children of all age groups.
At Curious Play Labs, I work closely with a small but passionate and sensitive team to create well-researched, thoughtfully designed programs in science, coding, and reading. My joy lies in watching children light up with wonder, ask bold questions, and discover that learning is not about memorizing — it’s about experiencing and truly understanding. I really believe that wholesome, joyful learning at younger age ensures a life- long love for learning in people.
My journey began small, but with the love of our community, we’re steadily growing into a place where curiosity truly feels at home.

I am a passionate educator with deep interest in inculcating love for learning in children and helping them build a meaningful knowledge base early on in life. With a postgraduate degree in Finance and formal training in the Montessori method of education, my true calling lies in nurturing curiosity and creativity in children through experiential learning.
At Curious Play Labs, I lead the Science and World Knowledge Series Workshops for children aged 6–10 years, where learning comes alive through storytelling, hands-on experiments, and real-world connections.
Being a mindful parent of two young children, I have a natural tendency to bring in warmth, insight, and dedication to every session—helping children build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and foster a lifelong love for learning.

I am a law graduate with a Master’s in Mass Communication, and I love bringing together analytical thinking and creative storytelling to nurture a lifelong love of reading in children. At Curious Play Labs and Curious Readers Reading Circle, I create and facilitate experiences that help young minds engage with language in authentic, everyday contexts. I am guided by Richard Steele’s belief that ā€œReading is to the mind what exercise is to the body,ā€ and this continues to inspire my approach to helping children discover the joy and power of books.

My name is Parvarish Bedi, and I'm the Coding and Robotics Facilitator at Curious Play Labs.
With over 10 years of experience in coding, including four years as a Senior Systems Engineer at Infosys Technologies, I bring a strong technical background to my role. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
More than just a skill, I believe coding is a powerful tool for self-expression, where ideas can take shape and come to life. As a father to a young son, I'm passionate about sharing my love for science and technology with the next generation.
My goal is to create a joyful learning environment where students can not only build their skills but also discover the confidence to bring their own unique ideas to reality. I look forward to learning and growing alongside my students.
